07.10.07

Thanks to everyone who turned up for our shows over the last few days. We really had a great time despite the thousands of K in a minibus.

I think a few special thank yous are in order.

Az for being the usual merch guy extraordinaire.

The SlimP for playing Elimination.

NUC & Alien Skull Paint for helping make Bremen such a special gig.

Chris Reed for being a droll bugger and putting up with us all.

All the promoters/venues for looking after us.

Evey for being Evey and spending hours on trains.

Leif & Olaf from WOD for all their hard work on our behalf.

Everyone for putting up with my bad German.

Lastly and i know this is corny, everyone who I haven't mentioned, but without you we wouldn't bother doing this.

The next few months should see us working on and hopefully recording new material. I hope you'll come and see us perform some of this next year.

We've already got a couple of dates booked for next year and we will be announcing them soon. I can't say where they are yet. Suffice to say one is in the UK and the other  in Germany.

You might want to take a listen to this podcast which features a Skels interview and a couple of tracks meanoldscene

Until the next time

06.05.07 May 2007 Newsletter

Hello Everybody!

We've been having a good year so far with gigs in Lisbon ( http://www.graveyardsessions.net/), Milan (www.mi-decay.org/)  and London (www.slimelight.net)  so a big, big thanks is due to all concerned with those. To look forward to we have a couple of dates in Switzerland organised by www.greenpepper.ch , a rare local gig http://www.woolstock.co.uk/ & the Gothic Festival Waregem Belgium http://www.gothicfestival.be/.

More dates are in preparation including a couple in Germany booked by www.wod.de  and hopefully a couple of countries we've never visited before. So hopefully we'll get to see more of you this year.

We're currently working on new material and are all very excited about what we're producing.

A recommended read for you is www.nemesis.to/go.htm which purely co incidentally features a review of our recent Slimelight gig.

All the best for now.

14.3.07 A few more dates added to the Gigs section.

10.2.07 Hi again everybody.

Well, what a great start to the year. A fantastic show in Lisbon for an
enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowd. Many, many
thanks to the team at Graveyardsessions it was a pleasure meeting you all.
Pictures from the show are online at  www.graveyardsessions.net We would
certainly recommend a visit to one of their parties.

Still to look forward to Bats over Milan  organised by
http://www.mi-decay.org/ . Also on the bill Bohemien, New Days Delay and Eat
your Make up. Of course no year would be complete without our annual visit
to our friends at Slimelight www.slimelight.net . This years visit should be
extra special due to the appearance of the Chris Reed Unit, Chris being the
founder and frontman of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry.

Several more dates are still under construction. All we can say for now is
we should be visiting two more countries we've never played in before if all
goes according to plan.

 New DVD Release

Cherry Red http://www.cherryred.co.uk/ have released a new DVD featuring
tracks old and new. Currently only available from Cherry Red we currently
have no copies to sell from our on line shop.

Questions you have asked

Will we see the Skels at WGT?

So far we have not been booked so probably not this year but another German
festival date is a possibility.

When are you playing Mexico?

As mentioned before a proposed short tour of Mexico had to be abandoned
because the promoter ran into difficulties.

How do I/we book the Skeletal Family

Easy! E mail us at skeletalfamily@hotmail.com  or contact www.wod.de We're
still looking to do a few more dates this year.

Best regards to everyone

News and reviews

A couple of new reviews both in German.

www.transmission-magazin.net I have taken the liberty of translating this, but please bear in mind my german is not of the highest standard but I think It's a fair if not altogether literal translation.

What can I say about this? These 3 songs are really sharp! If the same level is maintained throughout the album you can safely file this with the 80s classics Burning Oils and Futile Combat. The first track Heartsbeating shows the Skels at their dancefloor best. This track joins their list of club hits. If Hands on the Clock or Promised Land gets you going then you will like Heartsbeating. The second track Lullaby of Hate is a beautifully paced ballad in ¾ time, very dark. The wave guitar  sends you into a dream, however what makes Lullaby of  Hate special is the inclusion of a saxophone.  Even if its a bit bit corny its got bags of 80s feeling. Nightclubbing next, Iggy Pops bar music. The Piano tinkles away untiringly, the Horns hiss ( spit ),  the  Guitarist forces sounds from his unwilling dearest

These 3 songs make you hungry for more!

Max Bringmann.

And from http://metal.de/cdreviews.php4?was=review&id=6382

Likewise this is my translation:

Here in spite of the Asiatic tinged cover we have no offering from a present day popular Japanese Rock Group, rather instead of which we have a Gothic band which already existed in the 80s and had been disbanded for a good 15 years. The association with oriental musical is still valid however as the thin smoky voice of frontwoman Claire is a good octave higher than the accepted pain threshold in Europe, this however is actually a case of not being accustomed to it.

After a while the band score with their simple compositions which lie somewhere between rock and wave. Like other British bands the opener Faithless Whore is pleasantly built out of scarcely more than one and a half riffs, continuing on in a primitive rock groove with Lies and Hearts Beating. Various time changes, marked dynamics between verse and chorus as well as the distinctive voicings of the aforementioned singer pulls everything together into a unified record. After the very 80s Nightclubbing a short excursion into an atmospheric wave feel, which stick out compared to the rocksongs and detract a little from the listening pleasure. After the hypnotic ¾ time Lullaby of hate Sakura ends in exemplery fashion with Gut Feeling.

All in all despite real quality the target group must try this because of the distinctive singing. If your bag is deep bass voices you may have to give this a couple of listens.

Joneleth.

Finally Stan is still laid up and not able to move because of his ankle, but once again thanks to everyone who has sent their best wishes!

26.4.06  Stan is now out of Hospital and recuperating at home.

We will be rescheduling the 100 Club for later in the year. All tickets remain valid or  refund will be given at point of purchase.

Also thanks to everyone who sent their love and best wishes to Stan he really appreciates it.

18.4.06 100 Club Cancelled

We just found out today that what Stan thought was a badly sprained ankle
was in fact  broken. So bad in fact that he will be undergoing surgery
tomorrow to rebuild it. It is highly unlikely that he will have made a full
enough recovery to make the show on the 18th so we have taken the reluctant
decision to postpone.

On a plus point just received my copy of DropDead Magazine www.dropdeadmagazine.com and very fine it is too!

Karlheinz

11.4.06 Found this on the Virgin Megastore Site

What a relief - this is good”

“When a band you loved and admired brings out there first new album for 20 years you are naturally entitled to feel apprehensive. Especially when the original vocalist no longer features in the line up. Well the guys and the bundle of energy have produced the goods with a self financed and produced gem. It opens in uncompromising fashion with the storming Faithless Whore which in my opinion is as fine a piece of PostPunk/Goth/Deathrock as you'll find and ending with an increasingly manic version of Devo's gut feeling. On the way they give us the Eastern Promise of Delerium, completely sleaze up Iggy Pop's nightclubbing featuring a really fine vocal from Claire on this one. Not to mention the inspired re workings of two of their older numbers Lies and All my Best Friends. Best Friends actually predates the Skels but somehow sounds really contemporary to me and is a live favourite. Thank you, no really thank you very much. ”

From: Slapgoth, Leeds

Can't help but admire the guy's taste :-)

19.10.05 In recent months, Top British Soap TV Show Coronation Street's goth rocker Craig Hudson has been heard listening to various Skeletal Family tracks, apparently his favourites are "So Sure" and "Burning Oil". He was recently seen in one of mid October's episodes sporting an early design Skeletal Family T shirt. Obviously the lads got taste! Forget Status Quo. Could the band be lined up to make their first appearance in Manchester for 20 years playing Halloween Goth night at The Rovers Return?.

We also made a very creditable showing in the voting on the WGT forum www.wave-gotik-treffen.de. Firmly in the top 20% any way have a look for yourselves, it's under bandwünsche.

And there's more........ we will be signing a distribution contract for Sakura this week.
